Etisalat Academy has successfully delivered UAE's first Telecom Regulatory Compliance Masterclass to selected Etisalat marketing and sales teams. The initiative - a joint effort by Etisalat Regulatory Affairs Department and Etisalat Academy, was praised by UAE Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA) representatives attending the event.
The two day program attracted more than 100 participants and included regulatory framework awareness sessions, as well as practical advice on developing compliant market strategies.
EA has been working closely with Etisalat's Regulatory Affairs Department on creating a high impact training program, covering not only the legal aspects of telecom's operations in the UAE, but the all-important internal procedures and policies related to marketing, sales and customer service teams' day-to-day operations.
The development of this program faced many challenges - from the difficulties related to communicating telecom laws, regulations and policies in an engaging and efficient manner, to the requirements in addressing the needs of a large variety of departments - B2B, SME and Enterprise Sales, Marketing Communications, Customer Care, and many others. Etisalat Academy training consultants took on the challenge, developing and delivering sessions on telecom sector legal framework essentials, service provider regulatory obligations, compliant competition strategies and marketing communications, pricing transparency, customer care and sales policies, as well as regulatory reporting among others.
Judging by the lively discussions during the sessions and the excellent feedback the program was a total success, and a new series of Telecom Regulatory Compliance Masterclasses have been planned for 2010.
The effort was also praised by Ms. Bonnie Burns - TRA's Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs, who addressed the audience during the program's opening ceremony, and emphasized the importance of such initiatives towards maintaining a pro-competitive telecom business environment. Ms. Burns also noted the proactive approach that Etisalat has taken so early in the telecom sector liberalization process in the UAE by saying:
"The spread of new technology and the move towards increased liberalization have opened up the UAE market. Therefore, in the wake of increased regulations, TRA applauds Etisalat’s one-of-a-kind effort in launching initiatives that will facilitate the smooth and effective compliance of regulatory mandates that are set out by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority.”
