Course Objectives:

Many people think that they coach when they actually give advise: 'if I were you I would ..' or 'when I was doing your job I used to..' it ' s quick and it comes from a positive intention to help the other person, BUT it can alienate them and create resistance. Coaching focuses on what ' s possible and what ' s next. When done well, coaching not only improves and individuals skills, it empowers them, they learn how to work through the process for themselves and they start to use the coach as sounding board.

Expected Accomplishments:

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will be granted the following:

  • Attendance Certificates from SHL Group / UK
  • Attendance of this course contributes to the SHL Diploma in Occupational Assessment

Coaches, mentors and those responsible for people performance.

Prerequisites:

Good command of English and an involvement in management and HR functions.

 

Course Outline:

  • Learning what your values and drivers are as a coach
  • Learning when to coach and when to assert
  • Learning how your behaviour impacts on the coaching process
  • Applying practical, tried and tested models in your company

 

 

Delivery Method:

  • Instructor led classes with practical sessions, case studies and an open clinic group discussion of topics relevant to delegates' organizations
  • Completion of an online Occupational Personality Questionnaire in the Academy
  • e-Competency Centre
  • Delegates will practice on feedback sessions with a number of volunteers
  • Completion of a workbook relating to two anonymous potential coaches within your company
