Etisalat Academy to Host Inaugural ABA Cup – UAE Open Badminton Tournament

For the first time in the UAE, Etisalat Academy will host the ABA Cup, a UAE Open Badminton Tournament. All proceeds of the tournament will be donated to charity. The event will be held between 23 April and 1 May, closing with an awards ceremony and gala dinner. 167 players have registered to participant in the tournament, which has been organised by a group of committed badminton players who regularly play at Etisalat Academy’s Sports & Leisure Club.

David Brennan commented, “We are delighted to host such a great event. It combines two ideals that we are committed to – promoting healthy living and also giving to the community – one of the foundations of this great country. We are looking forwarding to welcoming the hundreds of badminton players and spectators to the Sports & Leisure Club over the next few weeks.”

Geetha Lakshmi, one of the tournament organisers, explained, “As a group of badminton lovers, we organised this tournament not only to promote the sport, but also to contribute to the community, which is why we are donating the proceeds to charity. We are also keen to show players from around the UAE that the Etisalat Academy’s badminton courts are the best in the country. We hope to have many future events at the Sports & Leisure Club.”
